What would you like to do?
Holiday weekends often create space for families and friends to spend time together around picnic tables or barbecues or lakes or pools--and even the television!
So why not make your time more intentional by asking everyone--in advance or on the spot--"What would you like to do today?"
Perhaps some of you like to play board games. Bring (or put out) one or more of your favorite (old and new) games and invite someone to play! See what happens!
Others of you are active outdoorsmen. Set out a croquet course, a badmitten set, a putter and golf ball, or a softball and glove for any or all to enjoy!
Some of you probably prefer to go for a walk, especially after a meal. Bring your tennies and email some of your family or friends in advance and ask them to join you. Consider a "route" that is fun or easy or advanced. See how many kids or adults (and dogs) join you!
Many of you prefer to take photos of a fun occasion. Bring your best camera and assign yourself the group photographer and engage everyone in the media presentation. Send copies to all! (You might just find yourself with a regular job!)
Of course, most of us love to eat. Bring or prepare something from your childhood (such as a dozen boxes of cracker jacks or homemade ice cream) for kids and adults to enjoy!
No matter how short or long your Labor Day holiday, make it special for everyone by asking them, "What would you like to do?" Then incorporate everyone's wishes into the festivities!
